Mr Hamilton's Specialist Ear Surgery

Over the past 20 years, John Hamilton has provided a core ENT service for adults and children. He specialises in research-based ear surgery and this practice has enabled him to achieve a standard that is internationally respected. This work includes more than 600 ear drum perforation repairs (tympanoplasty); more than 700 hearing reconstruction operations (ossiculoplasty); and 500 otosclerosis surgery (stapedotomy).

Mr Hamilton has a particular interest in and has performed over 1700 operations for cholesteatoma in the last 15 years. He has pioneered new surgery in this field that improves removal of disease and improves hearing preservation. This work has been published in the world's leading peer-reviewed ear surgery journal.
